Tourist visa for Brazil

Have any Americans obtained a tourist visa for Brazil while living in the UK? I'm trying to sort out how much of a hassle it's going to be before deciding whether to attend a conference.

Not in the UK.  but I got one about 5 years ago using the Brazilian Embassy in Washington DC.  Thank goodness I lived there at the time, because it was a hassle and their process didn't instill any confidence in me.  Typical Latin American beaurocracy and speed (or lack of speed).
