Priceline
« on: August 17, 2008, 03:50:51 AM »
I just had my offer accepted by Priceline. I did research on the hotel and the comments were not good.
I called Priceline and they said "everyones perception is different and I should talk to talk to the hotel management if there is a problem"
I think I would like to pull out. As some of you know you can't do that.
Next time I think I will book direct with the hotel.
Comments include, dirty rooms, not a 3 star hotel, thin walls in the room, stains on the carpet, toilet didn't flush, way over due for refurbishing, bed linen not clean, don't judge from the photos of the hotel on their website.
It is a Radisson property close to Banff, Alberta.
How can you enjoy a vacation (holiday) if you feel uncomfortable in the hotel room?

I have been to great hotels in various parts of the world where, later, I was really surprised to read some of the negative web comments. Some people just love to moan. You really don't know until you get there. I have used Radisson more than once and I was perfectly satisfied with the standard of cleanliness each time.

I was put up in the Radisson in Denver back in March (I missed my flight connection and had to stay overnight) - it was a lovely hotel :). From the outside, it didn't look like it was in a great area (near the freeway), but inside it was gorgeous - I had a snazzy bathroom, a big bed with loads of pillows and a big flatscreen TV... it was a $200-a-night hotel room and I got it for free (paid for by the airline)! I can't usually afford anything more than a Days Inn or a Travelodge if I'm paying myself, so it was pretty much the nicest place I've stayed :)

Jim, I've used Priceline and stayed in a hotel that had a few less than perfect reviews and found it to be OK. Don't get too anxious and concentrate instead on the great deal you scored. Enjoy the beautiful area you will be visiting. Banff is spectacular in photos and is one of the places I'd really love to visit in my lifetime.

I prefer Hotwire to the bidding format of Priceline, but I *never* book on either site without doing my research on the Better Bidding forums:

Thanks Meg for that reference. I had forgotten the links name so now I have it again. A big thanks.

I just arrived in Banff (Canmore). The Radisson is fine! This the fourth hotel on this trip and except for one they have been very good. I had a hotel in Dear Lodge, Montana that was bad so we didn't stay there. If it was given a one star it would have been pushing it. They had just been franchised by Rodeway Inn. AAA gave them 3 star. Go figure?

This trip has been the best. We just left the Glacier National Park, Montana and now we are on the Canadian side and in the Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. We have had three days of rain so I felt like I was in the UK. The temp has been as low as 50. Gas is $(C)1.83 a litre.

I still notice a lot of people on moorcycles touring.
