Ice machine review
« on: August 10, 2008, 08:29:12 PM »
So I got my ice machine and its pretty bloody good...I wound up buying it on Ebay and I spent £100 for it, however I went to Costco today and they had smaller ice machines (lower spec than this one) and they cost £139 (with VAT) I saw lots of people buying them...so here is my mini review. Keep in mind I have no idea what the brand name is, its called the Contessa (I like to think of myself as a bit of a Contessa, so I knew I had to buy it) It is pretty bloody big, sort of the same size as a microwave, I have decided to keep mine out in the garage, its only a few steps away from the kitchen. Since I don't run it all the time, its not big deal to leave it outside.

So its not really great for ice storage as the storage basket isn't really cold enough to keep the ice cold, if you are planning to put the ice in your freezer, you can make a TON of ice cubes in about 6 hours, enough for a whole week (that was enough for us) I made two big bags and that lasted us a week. Its pretty great to be able to have all those ice cubes, and for me, well, its just a nice gadget to have. After I got this my husband decided he wanted a new gadget and he bought himself a new laptop! Oh well...we both need a holiday really! So this is a good substitute. Here are some more pictures!

I am off to enjoy an iced coffee!!!

Your post reminds me about how when my company moved into its new offices in London, one of the things we requested for the kitchen was an ice machine. The builders totally didn't get it and couldn't understand how we could possibly use that much ice on a regular basis. They looked at us like we were crazy. We persuaded them and we ended up with a fancy Italian machine that makes ice throughout the day.

Of the 60 people in the office, about 15 are American. We go through that ice like nobody's business.

I am nearly drooling!  The ice situation here is not stellar!
