We looked today, but were on our way to the beach and the food wouldn't have survived a day in the hot sun! We'll definitely do it another day, though. There were the whole chickens, salmon fillets and a few other mains. The sweet potato cakes as a side dish looked lovely, too!

I'll have to look at the M&S stuff. In the meantime, we're having red beans and rice, baked potatoes, roast chicken, then chicken curry with left overs, pizza, spag bol, and Greek salad (we've got our own salad growing in pots! Leftovers from all evening meals will be used for lunches. Somehow we still manage to spend far more than I feel like we should on food though.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

You don't even have to do the £10 meal to get a bag! I got one with a sammidge and a bag of crisps today! I probably won't use it, though. Not sturdy or big enough for me.

What do you have in your pantry?  Maybe we can give you a few suggestions so that you don't have to buy much to go with it.  A pantry challenge can be fun!

Here's the Budget Pantry Challenge thread for some ideas:

Were doing the same thing...money is tight for the next week.

We got chicken on sale for Chicken Alfredo (canned sauce like 2 for $3, noodles were $1.50) and it was alot of chicken so we can stretch it and make Chicken Salad for sometime during the week and maybe something else... I'm sure if my mom got chicken on the bone we coulda done alot more.

Also got ground turkey which was on sale for spagetti (canned sauce & noodles cheap)

Ground Pork for super cheap for bbq sandwiches and I made mac salad from what was in the cabnet. (noodles, mayo, celery, eggs, green onions that thankfully were still good because they've been in the fridge for almost 2 weeks now!)

We've never gone to the store and kept track of how much we spend or how much is what for how much you get in the bag/box. It was interesting and I think good because we should always shop like were on a budget so we don't have weeks maybe worse than this one.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Oops - been away from the computer for a few days.... Yes, there are definitely veg. dishes in the M&S deal. It seems like they do one chicken, one meat, one veg., and one fish each time. The chickens this time were already cooked. Most of them are from their range of ready to cook stuff - so all prepared with herbs or butter or whatever and just need to be stuck in the oven. If you can get in on it when there's a whole chicken involved it's SUCH good value - so far the chicken has been one dinner and two lunches for both of us and there's still a bit in the fridge!

She went to Sainsburys this afternoon and spotted a large chunk of ground beef for 5 pounds and change with an expiration date of Tuesday.  She took it to the butcher and asked for a discount and he marked it down to 44p   :o  So tonight it's Cossack Noodles and meatballs.   :D

My husband and I recently started shopping at Farm Foods. We spend about £10 per week and then just get the basic bread and other 'white label' items at Somerfield. In total we average about £15 per week for he and I. We've reduced our monthly food bills by £150 per month by doing so.
