This Is England (2006)
I am bias, i am a fan of Shane Meadow's work...this is a great piece of film making.
I like how it portrays the skinhead fashion and its love of ska and reggae, the 80s fashion and images of england in it's drabness. The footage used at the beginning and during the film, i remember seeing when i was growing up then.
The politically racist view of the BNP and it's relation with the skinhead culture, which is shown in the character played by Stephen Graham and his irrational nationalism, racism and his sociopathical personality, as he tries to indoctrinate a gang of friends.
The film also portrays the kinship of a teenage fashion in a gang, as a positive 'rites of passage' for the young boy Shaun.
