Spouse/Dependent Visa Question - dependent issue
« on: October 06, 2008, 05:46:21 PM »
I'm in the process of completing my spouse/dependent visa application.  Both my husband and I are americans and we're moving to London for his job.  My husband is already in the UK and has been for 3 months, and I'm headed over to join him now that are cats are through their 6 month wait.

I've got a copy of his entry visa and it currently states "0 Dependents" -- I've always planned to join him, so there's no subterfuge going on.  I was just waiting for the cats to be ready to fly.

Is the "0 dependents" thing going to hold me up for my visa?

I hadn't looked at this before and am now in a panic.

Many thanks!

There are no dependents attached the that visa.  That is what it means.  Nothing to worry about.

Ugh.  Another question.  I've been searching all over for my birth certificate, and I just can't find it.  In my confirmation email, I received a list of documents, including my birth certificate and old (expired) passports that I will need to submit.

I am not sure where the expired passport is, either.

Will a lack of birth certificate or old passport be a hang up?

Ugh.  I feel so dumb.

Birth certificate?  Is that on the list?  I wonder why, it's not needed.

My husband said the same.  Here's the list that arrived via email:

* your current passport
* your old passport or a copy of it
* If you are in the US - Valid US Immigration Status (originals not copies) e.g. Permanent Resident Card, Advance Parole Document, H1B visa, F1 with I-20 etc
* evidence of funds available to you, in the form of detailed bank statements covering at least the last three months
* your original marriage certificate
* your original birth certificate
* If you are in the US - Valid US Immigration Status (originals not copies) e.g. Permanent Resident Card, Advance Parole Document, H1B visa, F1 with I-20 etc
* If you are resident in another country dealt with by the British Consulate-General in New York and are not a citizen of that country please submit evidence of your legal immigration status
* One recent colour passport photograph (not more than six months old) Please note: scanned or copies of photos are not acceptable
* completed online application form

Thanks!

Did that letter come from the consulate?  Or Worldbridge?

I thought it came from the consulate.  I haven't dealt with Worldbridge (am not sure what it is).   ???

It was the email generated when I completed the visa app online.

Okay.

Anyway, it doesn't matter.  It's not needed.
