HSBC has cash machines that let you take out money in pounds, dollars or euros. I assume the limit is the equivalent of whatever the daily limit is on your credit/debit card.

Yeah, but wouldn't those fees be kind of high?  between the ATM fee for HSBC, the ATM fee your bank might charge, plus a conversion fee?

UK cash machines generally don't charge for ATM withdrawals (there are some ones that do, but they're operated by private companies- stay away from those!), so there wouldn't be a charge from HSBC.

To avoid charges from my US bank, I take advantage of the Bank of America-Barclays relationship with ATMs, but if you're not a BoA customer, yep, you'll be charged a fee.

For a two month trip, taking out cash from ATMs shouldn't cost you too much money in fees, as long as you take out more than £10 at a time! :)

Oh, I didn't know there was no fee!  Yeah, I'm not a BoA customer.  Kind of sucks, since Tim does bank at Barclays!
