Board Games
« on: October 05, 2008, 11:37:38 PM »
DB and I want to build a collection of board games. We've already started with some, but now we're looking for games that we might not think of on our own. So far we have: Scrabble, Yahtzee, Life, Guess Who?, Pictionary, Clue/Cluedo, and a game pack that has checkers/draughts, chess, backgammon, and chinese checkers.

What are some of your favorite board games? Any recommendations?

We do love Cranium, my sister has that game.  :)

I've never heard of Articulate before.

Someone mentioned a game called "Killer Bunnies" to me. Anyone played that before?

Please keep the ideas coming!

We tend to play parlour games (no board required) like Boticelli, Dictionary, and a couple of other riotous ones that nobody ever seems to have a name for.

I love Ticket to Ride, Colouretto, Samurai and That's my Fish (a really cute game of penguins and fishes)
I live in lovely Maidenhead, Berkshire and I run a fun social group for locals & expats in Maidenhead so people can socialise and enjoy the town!

I've never really played those. Never really thought about it either!

Ooo... the Germans make some fantastic board games!

DH and I are addicted to Carcassonne - a beautiful game based on Medieval walled cities and feudal farming. It's great for just two players, but is even more fun with more. There are loads of expansion sets to keep it interesting:

And for 3 or more players, you can't beat Settlers of Catan. Addictive, detailed, and engrossing:

Ok, so I'm smug.
