How much time left on Fiance Visa before applying for FLR?
« on: December 16, 2008, 08:20:20 PM »
I really do know the answer to this question.  I must have read it in posts several times already.  But now that it is actually time for me to apply for my FLR, I seem to forget everything I know.  My fiance visa expires 20/02/09.  Don't I need to get my FLR submitted a month PRIOR to that date?  I'm concerned that because of the holidays and with the new biometric and ID card requirements, I may not be able to get a biometric appointment in Croydon in time to post my app and paperwork.  I need to know WHEN I have to have all this posted by.

When I applied for the fiance visa, I had to submit the app online and was then made my biometric appointment.  I guess I was expecting the same thing here.  But all I can find is an app to print out and fill in.  Do I then need to call to make a biometric appointment?  So this means I can't submit anything at all until I get biometrcs right.  I think in the states, the date of your app was the day you made the online submission.

You need to submit your FLR application by post prior to the expiration date.  Technically they should consider the postmark as the submission date, but generally speaking you want it in their hands prior to the expiration date.  You can apply at any point between when you qualify for your FLR (marriage) until your visa expires.

No online submissions for FLR...  Welcome to the UK and the land of paper!  As far as the order in which you should proceed, we have a sticky topic here: http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=49185.0.  Once you have posted your application you will receive a letter to book your biometric appointment.  So the thing to do is post off the application as soon as you are ready.
