UK Spouse visa
« on: December 16, 2008, 01:40:43 PM »
I am not sure i am putting this in the right category. I have been starring at this page for a long time trying to figure out how to post a question  & this is the the first think i saw. If someone wants to instruct me on how to post  a question that is fine but if this is ok can someone please tell me if being denied entry prevent me from entering the UK on a spouse visa. I was denied entry to the UK summer of 07.  I only wanted to stay for a few weeks but was denied  entry because they thought i would stay.  I had ties to the US a job & a ticket out of the country & they still wouldn't let me enter to visit my boyfriend . When i tried to visit him in 07 i didn't know at the time whether or not we would be compatible in person because i had never met him & this was my reasoning for the visit to begin with. So a year went by & we have met a few times in other countries. I have never tried to enter the UK again because the pretty much put me off the first time.  Who wants to take the risk of being a treated like a criminal when simply trying to take a vacation then who wants to loose thousands of dollars.  I will never forget this so despite my boyfriends pleas i refused to return. Now we are getting married & the easiest thing to do would be for me to move there just for a few years till we get our finances sorted.  We plan on buying a house in the states but he cannot quit his job for a few years in order for us to do this.  If we were to get married in the US & then apply for a spouse visa could the UK deny it because i was denied entry in the past? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

If you use the search option closer to the top, you may be able to find other posts that may answer your question.

From what I have read, if you were denied trying to enter the UK once in the past and then later make an application for entry clearance on the Spousal Visa, it shouldn't have too much effect on the decision. Applying for the visa alone shows you're going through the proper channels and by then you will be married. Of course, I believe the application may even ask you if you have ever been denied entry to the UK before, and you WILL have to disclose this. The good part is that you can include a further explanation as to why, and this may clear up any worries about the previous denial.

Either way, there are tons of helpful people here at UKY who can offer you further advice and share their own experiences. Good luck!
