Got my ILR FINALLY!!!
« on: December 10, 2008, 11:40:15 PM »
Hi all - have posted previously about waiting and waiting and waiting..

Well - I FINALLY GOT MY ILR!!!

12 Sept - Home office received it/charged my credit card/issued a letter stating it was being handed to a case worker

01 Dec - I got antsy and sent a polite letter asking them to expedite my application if possible

04 Dec - I received my passport back with my ILR, etc (they kept my binder though!! :() and the letter and visa were dated 14th November!!! It must have just been sitting on a desk somewhere for almost 3 weeks waiting to be posted   ???

Anyway - Just wanted to share the timeline.

I'm so happy it's over and done with and still managed to get some not-too-expensive flights for Christmas.   ;D

Congratulations, Lynzie!  I know it's a relief!

Kitsonk, are you paying attention?  Here's another one who's ILR was issued weeks before being sent back to her.  Does that make about four now that we're aware of??

Thanks, I might have flipped through this one and not noticed...  I will work on collating the information and working with Gary to take the next step on this one, which I think, is to start contacting certain people in the right places...  I will keep everyone updated, but I am still fumbling around with some of this advocacy stuff, so be patient with me!  ::)

Congrats!!! What a nice feeling for you.  I'm glad it went through fine.

Kitson, mine is in process since 10 Nov.  I'll double check the dates whenever it finally arrives and let you know what they say, but it does seem like every post I've seen of late that listed an ILR arriving has complained of the stamp date being around a month earlier than the date they received it.

I sent the letter to the Durham address that I sent my first application to.  I sent the original first class post and just asked politely if they could speed up my app.  I made sure to include in the subject line my reference number that I was provided when they first informed me they were processing my application.  I also included my address at the top, etc. - just the usual business/personal letter.  I'm not for certain it made a difference but it is certianly worth a shot.  Good luck!

edit: - OH YEAH I almost forgot - I put at the top in HUGE BOLD FONT - "***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY AND I AM NOT ASKING TO WITHDRAW MY APPLICATION" - I didnt' want them to get any wrong ideas and it really wasn't an emergency according to their standards...
