timing on work permit/travel/visa
« on: December 15, 2008, 03:50:22 AM »
I've accepted a job that is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2009.  My employers-to-be are working on securing the work permit (I'm pretty sure I'm their first since the regulations changed :-\\\\).  I would like to arrive on/around July 1, just to get settled in before the job actually starts.  Can anyone tell me if I will be allowed a visa to travel before my job actually starts?  I have more than enough funds to live off of for that month.

I'm sorry if this question has a really obvious answer--I have tried looking around, but I just can't find anything that really answers my question clearly!

I'm not sure about the new regulations, but I arrived a month beforehand to get stuff sorted - such as housing, bank, etc.
