Fiance VISA location
« on: December 15, 2008, 06:26:12 PM »
Hello all! I'm new here, although I've been in England for awhile; here's my dilemma:

My g/f (British Citizen) and I (US citizen) are planning on getting married in April. I have been on a student VISA, which expires in January. We will be heading to the US in a week so I can apply for the Fiance/marriage VISA. I have been working on it while over here, with the intent of getting the biometrics done ASAP (in Detroit).

For the online application, we are given the opportunity to give a residence address and a contact address. Because I have been living with my g/f for 1 1/2 years in England, and that is part of our argument for a VISA, I thought I should put this as the residence address; however, she thinks that because I'll be applying from the US, it should be my parents' address, as that's where I'll be staying.

Does anyone have any advice on this? I hope to hear from you!

Take care,

Cody

If it were me, personally, I would put your address in the US where you will be staying while a decision is being made on your visa. Others may suggest different, but considering you have to apply from the US, it makes no difference to put the UK address when any contact will be to the address in the States.

Also, I believe there will be a question on the form asking if you and your fiancee have lived together in a way akin to marriage (which you have - living together in the UK) so you can explain your UK address and everything there.
