Tier 1 Dependent
« on: December 08, 2008, 02:15:04 AM »
My boyfriend is applying for the HSMP, Tier 1 Visa. He is a US citizen going to school in the UK. I am a US citizen as well, currently living in the US. I will be applying for my Dependency visa in February 2009.

Since my boyfriend is a US citizen, what are the chances that I will obtain a dependency visa while he is in school in the UK? I am collecting evidence now that will hopefully be sufficient data to get me there. Any ideas on how to assemble all the material once it is all together? I have been reading several individual postings of people in the same boat as myself...Everyone is so helpful!!

Any info, let me know!! Thank you! :)

If your application to the points-based system is successful, you are allowed to bring dependants (children under 18 years of age, or your husband, wife, civil partner, or unmarried or same-sex partner) with you to the United Kingdom, as long as we give them entry clearance or permission to stay (known as 'leave to remain').
We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.

How long have you been living with your boyfriend?

To qualify as an UP, you will need to be able to provide evidence that you have been legally living together for > 2 years and because of the lack of formal (in the eyes of the law) relationship, they do take a look at this with a fine toothed comb.

Since he has been going to school in the UK, I don't know if you can prove that you have been living together for 2 years.
