Best place to buy US games from the UK? (esp. xbox360)
« on: December 07, 2008, 04:55:34 PM »
I crawled through some of the other threads here, but didn't really see anything specifically mentioned other than ebay... and I generally try to avoid there (lots of mixed experiences). Is there a particular US retailer that has a great deal on international purchases and shipping (or does them at all, since some won't)? Any enterprising UK retailers that carry US games (in the US, there were some retailers that imported JP games)?

Thanks,
Aaron

"Most" 360 games are region free which means the vast majority from the US can be played on a UK machine, or vice versa.

www.gamehubs.com is an import site if you want to check it out, it gives all region info for each game if you have any doubts and their prices are reasonable.

The only downside with some titles is that the downloadable content can be region coded, although that is more prevalent on the PS3. (ie. if you have a US disc and you want a download add-on or update from the UK site it wont work with it).

Aside from that there are no other issues I can think of.

Hope that helps somewhat,
Shugga's DH, as its easier to type it than recite it.

Ahh, many thanks, that site was perfect. Doesn't seem to have all of the games, but at least most of the new ones (fable 2, left 4 dead, fallout 3, etc.). I've been buying most of the newer games for the PS3, since it's known region free, but it always seems the PS3 ports are less functional or more problematic. I wasn't aware that so many xbox games were region free. I'll keep it bookmarked.

Suit yourself.  But it's easy to do, it's free and it's the rule.
