Another mold problem >:(
« on: December 16, 2008, 01:24:36 AM »
My mother's garage, where I was storing some stuff, became infested with mold. I ended up having to throw out a ton of stuff.

I have bags and some clothing that were there, too, and even though they have no stains on them, they smell like mold. I have washed them in hot and cold water, added vinegar to the rinse cycle, added fabric softener, let them air dry, but I still cannot get rid of the smell! It is driving me crazy and smells gross.  [smiley=puke.gif]

Any suggestions as to what to do?

I'm not sure if it'd be wise to do this with delicate/colored clothing, but if any of them are whites, I would try putting a few spoonfuls of baking soda in the washer with them. It's usually great for neutralizing odors

Ya, just wash them again, more vinegar/other stuff.  Line dry again (if possible!!?)

You're reminding me that I have to go through the shoes and coats again.  Mould central.

Wash them with Borax.

wash them in powder, preferably bio powder.  substitute a bit of that with washing soda crystals.

LINE DRY them, preferably on a breezy day.
