Sky box seems to be frozen
« on: February 06, 2009, 07:44:30 PM »
Any thoughts? I KNOW I turned it off last night when I went to bed. This morning I came down and the button was green instead of red. I tried manually turning it off at the box and it won't turn off. I tried the remote. No luck. When I point the remote at the box the little 'remote' light on the box lights up, but nothing happens. The light at the end of the remote also turns on, so I'm assuming the batteries are not dead. Any ideas? I'm sick of watching the 5 standard channels!

Ours does this about once a week.  Pull the power cord out of the back of it, wait 10 seconds or so, and plug it back in.  In a couple of minutes (2 or 3) turn it back on and it should be ok.

Our V+ box also freezes up every now and again and has to be rebooted.

Glad you're back up and running, and sorry you missed Grey's Anatomy.  :)

I'm having a similar problem with my Freeview box... it's stuck on BBC-1 and the channels won't change.  I've tried unplugging it, but still no joy.

Try leaving it unplugged for longer.   On some models it can take an hour or two powered-down for the unit to do a complete reset and recover from certain problems.

Alternatively, some units have a factory restore option which typically involves holding down some combination of buttons as you switch on, or waiting until a certain light flashes then pressing a specific button, etc.   Check the manual to see if such a procedure is listed.  (You'll lose all settings and have to retune and reconfigure from scratch.)

I unplugged it from the mains overnight, and it was fine the next day.
Thanks.  :)
