Going Dutch

Mr Apple, this question is for you.  Hovis and I are very fond of cheese.  One of our favorites is smoked Gouda.  In California, it is pronounced Goo-da.  When we lived in England, we noticed (couldn't help but notice) that they said Gow-da.  So, Apple, you speak Dutch.  Would you please tell us how to say it right?

Well sir it's like this - The G in Dutch has a very guttural sound to it. Hard to describe, but it's something like a gch sound. So it would be Gchooda.

You know how you always run into some pin-head who's going to tell you how to pronounce Van Gogh? Well, they're always wrong. That's a real toughy, and I won't even attempt to break it down phonetically.

So it's an OO sound, not an OW sound!
