Will Chase cancel my credit card?
« on: December 17, 2008, 02:00:40 PM »
If I tell them I moved and ask them to send my credit card statements to my new UK address?

I contacted Washington Mutual about my move, (for one of my other cards) and they cancelled my card, saying that if I am out of the country for over a year, I can't keep my card. However, when I called up Citi, (about my 3rd card) they said I could keep that card and just changed my address and are now sending my statements to the UK.

Anyone know the policy with Chase? I really want to hang onto that card, (good interest rate) so if their policy is to cancel it because I immigrated, I would rather keep getting those statements sent to my mom's house in the US. I do realize that only making purchases in the UK would look suspicious to Chase, if I didn't tell them I moved, but I typically only make the rare larger purchase with that card, not groceries or everyday things.

Thanks  :)

Best thing to do is to give Chase a call and ask what the terms and conditions are on your account regarding moving out of the country and see what they say as each individuals specific account can be different from yours.

I also recommend you phone to confirm, but I kept my Chase card active during my 4 yr stay in the UK. I used it for purchases in the US on visits etc, but that was once yearly activity only. They changed my billing address to my UK address without any problems, although this was 4 years ago at the time.

I am thankful I kept that card open because when my DH moved to the US with me this summer they added him as joint owner and bingo, he's suddenly got an 8 year credit history in the US.

Hi. I have a Chase bank account and three credit cards with Chase. I have changed my address with them to my UK address and it has been fine.

I also have a Bank of America card and was able to transfer my address to the UK.

I've changed the address on my US credit cards before and they've never mentioned a thing.

I've got a Chase card, they had no problem changing my billing address to the UK.  It's still my primary credit card and I use it all over Europe (I work for a US company that reimburses expenses in US dollars to my US account, so I use my US credit card for everything).
