Patrick was a Briton taken into slavery to Ireland. Early sources tend to refer to him as Patrick the Briton, and he is believed to be from somewhere around Carlisle. No idea where you got the notion he was Italian!
Arrived as student 9/2003; Renewed student visa 9/2006; Applied for HSMP approval 1/2008; HSMP approved 3/2008; Tier 1 General FLR received 4/2008; FLR(M) Unmarried partner approved (in-person) 27/8/2009; ILR granted at in-person PEO appointment 1/8/2011; Applied for citizenship at Edinburgh NCS 31/10/2011; Citizenship approval received 4/2/2012

Probably, seeing as his father came from a high-ranking Roman family.   :P  My Theology teacher at my grade school (one of many St. Patrick's) was an Irish Catholic Nun and referred to him as being Italian...  It got ingrained in my head as I had her as a teacher for several years and the whole school had to sit through history presentations & mass every year.   ;)

Years of Catholic school taught me that, very often, nuns are not as clever as they think they are.

But this is shocking!  A Theology teacher???  St Patrick has no part in theology, other than as an aside.

Maybe to an Irish Catholic nun anyone who wasn't Irish must be Italian?

LOL!

The Simpson's episode was good - wasn't it also supposed to be their "premier" in HD?   :P
