Mine is the opposite and it drives me mad, but I have gotten used to it now.  It's a Panasonic and has a rest period to warm up the ingredients before it kneads them so you can put in cold water.  My one in the USA was the opposite with liquid first and it had to be warm.

I am trying out a chocolate challah loaf at the moment and will post if it is successful!

I didn't realize there was a difference. I was always under the assumption that it didn't make much difference, as long as one was far away from the other in order of ingredients. My bread book always called for yeast first, water last...... my new one didn't specify. Oh bread gurus, please help me! lol

for the record, the only ones of mine that seem to turn out crap would be on days like today.....its snowing!
