it already is mainstream. say it in front of my boss every day!

My managing director says it to me  ;D He only says it around people where he feels he does not have to give  "Superior" impression.

I think the F-Word has already been replaced by the C-Word...which makes me cringe everytime I hear it.

How about using words that really get attention.

Instead of "that film sucks", say "that film is rubbish"! ;D

I would say it in conversation to friends, but not my grandmother or at work.

Maybe my mother did the editing. She thinks "butt" is a bad word. When I was about 11 I said "sucks" once and she pulled over on the side of the road and chewed me out/spanked me for saying it. (I didn't even know the meaning of the word!)

(I didn't even know the meaning of the word!)

I think that sums it up. I don't think many kids know that when they say to their classmate "Your cheap cell phone sucks" they are really saying "Your phone is so lowly in status that, like a jail b*tch, it abases itself before, and performs oral sex on, my superior model." Or maybe they do.

But meanings change. When Cockneys say "cor blimey", (if any still do) surely they are not really asking God to blind them?

Its not offensive at all however its not something thats really used in the UK in as much as not many Brits would say something sucks

That's why I don't really say it anymore. It's just not part of my vocabulary in the UK. I seem to remember I used it a lot in the US, though!  But not ever in front of parents or friends' parents. In front of my boss? Yes. But that's down to the nature of the relationship we had. I've had other bosses I'd never use that sort of language with.

I think I'm in love.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

My very proper and mild-mannered mother explains the meaning of the word to her middle-school students. ;D

She would have a FIT if she heard me say it, though!

It is certainly in my vocabulary.  Although it's original form, when at university back in 1995, was "that sucks donkeys".

Don't ask why.

I stopped saying it for a long time for that reason.  I sometimes say it now though.  I don't know why I started again.  My parents hated it too.  My Mom used to get really angry with us.  One of my friends used to say 'sucks hind tit' which is a farm expression and still cracks me up.

When I first arrived, I remember being a bit  :o  :o by the phrase 'suck it and see'.

i say it in front of my boss every day!

Me too.

Most members in my team at work swear like truck drivers (as my mother would say).

I find that saying f*ck really emphasises something.

I hate cereal.   I f*cking hate cereal.

See..?  :P

Ummm, maybe because I say it all the time :-[

I have a potty mouth!  I'm very lucky my son does not repeat the naughty words back to me (So far)

BTW, didn't see if anyone said this above, but iTunes has replaced s**k with suck in the title of the song. (On the US site at least)
