Credit card protection
« on: February 10, 2009, 05:43:44 PM »
When I use my US credit card in the States, if there is any problem I can simply call the credit card company and they fight my battles for me. For example, I canceled some hotel reservations well in advance of the check in date, the hotel refunded my deposit, but then when the date arrived the hotel charged me for the room. I called my credit card company and they took care of it. Is there similar protection in the UK?

It depends on the terms of the booking, and the reason for cancellation.  You are protected when it comes to card theft and non-delivery of goods or services, under the terms laid by the Banking Ombudsman.
