Hehe.... you bunch of dirty pervs!  ;)

Well, anyway, Mrs. R is talking about diaphragms now, so I guess the thread has heated up a little!  :P  The fireplace screen with inset candles looks amazing, and I plan to put some vases with flower arrangements on each side to enhance the romance - making sure the fire stays in where it belongs!  ;)

I don't like the electric fires - I can always hear the fans in them.

The ones I had in mind were simple radiant, or combination radiant/convector models, no fans involved at all.  Like this:

(The ad is just a few years old, so don't expect those prices for equivalent models  today!  ;) )

However, I have heard that due to the age of our house, and the uncertain condition of the internal brickwork/stonework of the chimney, we really ought to get something called a chimney diaphragm (I think it's called that? it's like a metal tube to line the inside of the chimney, so as to prevent fires) but I've heard they aren't cheap.  :-\\\\

The term you're looking for is chimney liner or flue liner.

Ha ha - well.  Thanks.  I was describing the thing to someone today, and they called it a diaphragm, so I thought - well ok, maybe that's the term for it.  :-[
