Ok, so I got a flyer through my letterbox today, which delighted DD.   ;D  Its for Rosemary Conley "lose 7lbs in 14 days" all that stuff.  But I had a look at the flyer and what interests me is that they offer "Weigh in and workout at one price".  This is ideal to me with being in a small village, finding a place to work out is not going to be cheap if done nearby and then there's the issue of childcare... 

So, anyway getting to my point - has anyone done it or know anyone that's done it??  I've tried Weight Watchers in the past and did pretty well, and it did wonders for my sister, but its more the fitness class (a salsasise class) along with the meeting thing.  It sounds ideal to me - any feedback?  Worth it or not?

I just now saw your post, and I know it's been a while, but I thought I would respond anyway! You might ask Elliejean what she thinks about it, as she made a pretty negative comment about Rosemary Conley the other day. I haven't tried the programme, but I bought one of her diet and fitness magazines, and it looked pretty good. Apparently you use her "portion pots" (uh, otherwise known as measuring cups) to control the amount you are eating. The salsasize class sounds good....

I went 3 times and have since stopped going.   :-[  It was alright. The "support" / meetings were absolutely rubbish.  My support leader, (who was also the area manger) was more bothered about going on about how she was in the RC magazine blah blah blah.   :P  The initial diet reduces you down to 1200 cal / day for 2 weeks, then increases you up to 1800 cal / week therafter.  IMO it doesn't really seem like a diet for life though, as you don't feel satisfied on it.   :-\\\\  I still use the portion pots for different things, but the recipes aren't that brilliant nor satisfying.

The salsacize was pretty good, but after the 3rd "class" I felt really bored with it.  I could learn it, but the rest of the class couldn't and it was just quite mundane and unchallenging.  I wanted more for paying £5.50 / class than just a crap "support" meeting that lasted all of 5 minutes and a crappy exercise class that was 45 minutes of running into people.

It probably works for other people, but not so much for me.  I've found that FoodFocus is quite good for keeping track of what I eat and that seems to help me more than anything else.

Well, sorry that didn't work out for you. But at least now that you made that post, someone else who is thinking about doing it might find another alternative. I have been doing really well using the calorie counter on SparkPeople and just doing exercise dvds at home a few days per week. I get between 1200 -1550 calories per day, which can be pretty filling if I eat the right foods (and I am a bottomless pit, so saying that it can be filling is saying a lot!) I've been going pretty steady, and not burning out or anything. I budget in chocolates and things when I feel the urge...  ;) From your experience, it sounds like that Dolphina bellydancing dvd we have is much better than that class you went to, anyway!

Yeah, the Dolphina class is really good & you can do the moves at home while doing other things around the house.   ;)  Like you said, it is all about eating the right foods to fill you up.  Maybe its just me, I don't think I do well on "structured" diets.

I tried this several years back.  Liked the exercise _hated_ the condescending little twit who was leading the group.  Can't recall much about the diet - except that I didn't lose any weight on it. ;)

But heck, everything changes - and as with everything else different people have different experiences.  If you try it, I hope it works well for you.  :D
