garry, you must be a lawyer, lol.  Thanks for the clarification about the timing, good to know.

No one disagreed that a qualified UK attorney or advisor would be the ideal way to go.  I just had issue with the blanket statement that US attorneys had zero idea about UK law in general.  RIF.

Agreed, and the perfect example why those not qualified should not be giving UK immigration advise.

Most importantly, British != English and English != British.  It's part of the picture, but the two are absolutely not the same.  Getting one's head around that and coming to grips with it is one of the biggest conceptual leaps an immigrant here can make.
