How to get passport back from FLR app?

Due to emergency, I need my passport back from my FLR application which was sent in December.  I recall seeing here how to go about that, but I can't seem to find the thread.  Thanks in advance.

If you need your passport because you have to travel
urgently and unexpectedly, call 0870 606 7766 and
give the personal and other details listed above. Your
application will be treated as withdrawn if your passport
is returned for travel abroad before we are able to
decide the application.

And most likely you would have to travel to Croydon to pick up your passport.

Realise that an Emergency passport will invalidate your current passport and maybe cause you more issues then you really want to deal with.  Also, on either a second valid passport, a withdrawn application or an emergency passport you may run into issues when returning to the UK as you are likely not going to be in a valid immigration status.
