OK so here is the story, My DW (Brit and US Permanent resident) myself (USC) and our Son (Duel), went back to the UK for a trip to see her ailing Mother, and to look at some properties for when we finally make the move. Had a great 11 days there, sunny and warmer then Iowa, and just we got back last night, and already missing it.
So on the way back we are in Heathrow terminal 4, waiting for the flight, I go up to the desk to see if we can get bulk head and try to check the stroller and the car seat. My DW is in WH Smiths looking for a mag, when she comes out she puts her wallet with her purse in the bottom of the stroller. Yada yada yada My wife grabs her purse, I fold up the stroller and hand it to the little guy on the end of the jetway.
We are now on the plane. They are handing out the Customs forms, so I go into the overhead compartment to get DWs purse. She is looking for a pen, and asks me where is her wallet. You mean the thing that has your GREEN CARD and all of the other paper work in it. Search high and low, did she put it in the carry ons, NO, did she put it with the baby stuff. NO.
I go back to the cabin crew and let them know, so if by any chance it fell out of her purse in the jet way, or in the terminal, can they help. They were great, the crew talked to the captain and the everyone else. This was 14 minutes into the flight, so we had 8 hours to sit and think about what is going to happen when we get off the flight in Minneapolis and have no ID for her. What will we do with the baby, will he go with her, where will I go. All of that. Trying to hold back the Vomit the entire trip. Can't eat, can't sleep.
We land in Minneapolis, We collect all our things and head off the plane. Standing there was this wonderful person holding a Wallet in her hands, the wallet had slipped out of her purse and into the stroller, when they put the stroller in it fell out, but it did get into the plane. The ground crew grabbed it when they were getting the stroller out and were notified by the captain to look for anything like it.
WOW it was in her hands, I have seen her cry before, but she just collapsed into a heap from being so worried about it all. Coming back in the US with no IDs is a scary thought for anyone.
But all that done and dusted, now just wishing we were back in the UK.
