Returning Oyster Cards
« on: March 26, 2009, 07:44:26 AM »
Good Morning-

We will be moving back to the US soon and have 2 Oyster cards that still have a tiny bit of money on them.  We live up in Durham and won't be using them anymore and would like to return them to get our deposit back.  Does anyone know if this is possible without being in London?  I know they are good forever but would just like to get rid of them for know as we don't know when we will be back.

Any ideas would be a great help

If you are flying out of Heathrow there is an Underground station within the airport complex where you can get a refund in cash of the deposit and any remaining balance.

If not, you can call the Oyster Helpline on 0845 330 9876 (8:00 AM -8:00 PM 7 days a week) and ask about a refund by post. You may find that there would be an administration fee which might wipe out any refund though.
