How do the new student visa requirements affect my children?
« on: April 02, 2009, 03:01:35 AM »
I am planning on coming over on a student visa to start a Masters Degree at London School of Economics. I am bringing my three children with me.  I was planning on enrolling them at a local school. But now I saw this under "child student visa"

"child student – for children between 4 and 17 years old to come to the United Kingdom • for their education. Those who are between 4 and 15 years old may only be educated at independent fee paying schools."

Does anybody know if this means I *can't* enroll them in the local school?  Because that would really really really be bad.

AmyWW, panic yee not! Your children will not be coming to the UK on Tier 4 visas. If they were, they would indeed need to be educated in a private school, not a state school.

Your children will be coming as Tier 4 Dependents, and they will be perfectly entitled to be educated at state schools.

Thank you! That's what I thought but I had a bit of a panic moment after everything goes changing! Now all I have to focus on is had a quadrillion dollars in a bank account 28 days before I apply. And student loan paperwork.

I need this board!  ;D

Thank you!
