Any Good April Fool's Jokes?
« on: April 01, 2009, 10:57:49 PM »
I lucked out on the kids' jokes this year since I was mostly watching out for kids taking state testing and doing office work today. I didn't get any pranks from adults either. I did hear about a funny-if-it-didn't-happen-to-you April Fool's joke in Australia that involves cars and lots of cling film/saran wrap!

Some people had a LOT of time on their hands!

the director of the writing program at the university where i work sent an email out saying that the school has retained a polygraph testing company to administer lie detector tests to students suspected of plagiarism, complete with links to the company and statements from the university's legal team... everyone on the list-serve FLIPPED out over it until he finally sent another email confirming that it was an april fool's day joke.

the school's newspaper published something announcing that due to construction, the subway line that runs through the school would be free for the day, only no one got the star trek reference they made and realized it was a joke, so we had students arguing with drivers all day for free fare.

I liked the YouTube interface improvements, personally.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

We had one posting on the intranet from a wacky colleague pretending there had been a murder in his office.  ???
We also had an email from the Director warning us that next year's (09/10) budget will probably have to be cut by 10% rather than the threatened 5%.  It was not an April Fool's joke.  :P
I sense that things are getting too grim to make April Fool's jokes palatable.

I belong to a couple of TV show forums and when I logged into one of them yesterday, the mods had changed the entire forum to a site about a different TV show! There were a lot of confused and angry posts from the members (since they visited the forum for that particular TV show and didn't even like the new show they'd changed it to) before someone twigged that it was April Fool's Day :P!

Luckily the site has been returned to normal now - but it was a really good April Fool's joke :).

Did anyone else get this email from Virgin Atlantic?

My husband was all, like, "hardee har har -- you fell for it!" And I did, too, but it was kind of a cheat. I'm pretty sure there are all kinds of places you can get married on a plane in the States. Our laws about such things aren't strict, so I didn't think it was a particularly clever April Fool's joke.

I got it and believed it too!

I pulled a good one on my friends.   Background: I have only been dating my BF for around 4 months, he is in England and I am in the US.  I have no intention to live with BF when I move over for school because I am kind of a slow and steady type of gal when it comes to relationships.

So I changed my facebook status to engaged and put up on my status headline that it was true.  I had no idea how bad people would fall for it, I probably got 30-40 congrats from people.  I was gunning for four really close girlfriends and their reactions were priceless.  One of them called and before I could say April fools was yelling at me asking me what was I doing.  I couldn't speak I was laughing so hard.

The cherry or should I say cherries on the cake were when his flatmate wrote me on facebook mail and asked me to spill the gossip and said congratulations. Also his incredibly close mate, who was at the Scotland v Iceland football game with my BF during the day (he had just left my BF to go home and got online....) wrote he had heard nothing about this all day, was he missing something.  He also wrote on my BF's page asking him if he (BF) was holding out on him (friend).  I was rolling around on the ground laughing at that one.

I did write on everyone who was innocent and wouldn't know better's wall personally apologizing that they got sucked in.
