savings account
« on: April 05, 2009, 07:12:31 PM »
Hi, and help!
A quick question that was probably asked previously but I can't find it.
When applying for a visa, either student or visitor, when they look at bank statements, is it ok to have the money in joint accounts with a parent, or must it be an individual account?  Access to the funds is the same either way.

Apologies for making a new post if I shouldn't have - I'm new to all of this! :)

In short, yes, it's OK to use joint accounts with a parent.

For Students under Tier 4, the applicant must be named on the account, but it can be a joint account. The application will be refused if the student is not named on the account (if choosing to provide bank statements).
