Louise Hay?  http://www.louisehay.com/index.php

I listened to her a little while back and now have begun again, and was wondering if there were others here I could connect with about her.

Louise to me is a wonderful teacher who helps me achieve positive thoughts and a more calm approach in life.  Does anyone feel the same or differently?

If not, then maybe what meditation tapes or  self help authors/speakers do you enjoy or find helpful?

Thanks :)

A loooooooooooooong time ago I read "You Can Heal Your Life" and found it very helpful.  And I think that book is timeless.
Right now, I'm going through the book "The Artist's Way" which is similar, though more geared toward creativity, which definitely requires confidence and positivity; there are a lot of similarities.
I love, love, love Dr. Andrew Weil - I have a few cd's of his for better eating as well as living; he focuses a lot on just how important proper breathing is, and how easily we forget about that (simply concentrating on your breathing is a good meditation), as well as loads of other things.
I dig him because he started out as a botanist, then went to med school, and believes in all facets of healing (from holistic and spiritual, to drugs - whatever works).
Every so often I hear clips of Marianne Williamson on the radio and like what she has to say, though I don't own anything she's written.
I have lots of different types of music/sounds to relax and/or sleep to; Enya always being at the top of the list!

Thanks for replying!

A lot of people find it hokey, fake, cheesy, so it's hard to chat with people about it. Even my DH tries to poke fun!

You can Heal Your Life is timeless,  I own that book and read it at least two or three times. I found it really helped me and opened my eyes to a lot of things. It's not a long hard read or an expensive book so if you're thinking about it I say give it a go, or there's always the library. :)

I don't agree with Hay 100% on everything but she states that you should take what will help you as she's there to help not convince you of things you're not comfortable with or don't believe in.  I personally am not comfortable with the idea of me choosing my parents and the inner child stuff, though I'm trying to be open minded.

I haven't heard of The Artists' way, is it geared towards being open and enjoying your artistic talents to gain abundance in areas of one's life?

I haven't heard of Weil, but I'll take a look. We did breathing in a work training and it was sooo nice. When you take a moment to do it and let go you can become so relaxed! I swear I was about to fall asleep. He sounds interesting, and worth me looking into! Thank you for sharing :)

With Hay I find that I start immediately having more positive thoughts and consciousness in changing old thought patterns and behaviours. I start seeing and hearing myself and the negative talk is horrible. I also find her voice very calming, warm, and sincere. It's nice to stop blaming myself and others for everything, to let go and be kind and loving to myself and others :)

Thank you for sharing with me E! Have a good day x

Hey, whatever works is what I believe; long as it's not harming anyone.  It can be a touchy subject, and many people aren't comfortable with it.  I also find it very personal sometimes, so I don't discuss a lot openly.
Check out Artist's Way - www.theartistsway.com/ I don't believe it's for 'artist's only' - I think it's for anyone curious to explore his/her creativity in whatever capacity that is for the individual (I believe everyone is creative in one way or another).
And www.drweil.com/

Feel free to PM me as well if you like.

I think it's great that you have an open mind and are willing to give things a try; whether you 'believe' in some parts or not.

I also highly recommend a book called The Four Agreements.  It's awesome.
