My dad felt the same way about wearing swimming attire in the summer -- he was deeply self conscious if he had a breakout. We tried to time family seaside outings to times when his condition was more dormant. He went through a lot with it.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ar$e!!! Fortunately these days if you have major problems, you can get biologic medications or UV treatment. I hope I never have to have that, but it's good to know if I get some massive infection that causes an uncontrollable outbreak that there is something out there to help. The biologics are damaging to your liver, and the UV rays can give you skin cancer, so those are last resort measures for me!  :-\\\\  I have had cortisone shots (also bad for your liver) and UV spot treatments in the past, but fortunately it's cleared up since my late teens and early twenties.  :)  I think some people don't understand how much it affects your life in all sorts of ways (confidence-wise as well as physically). I always feel so sorry for people I have seen who have it all over their face.  :\\\'( That must be so awful.

My husband suffers from terrible psoriasis, but he is pretty open with it. He uses the usual creams and ointments, and finds the best cure is a fortnight in the sun! However, the results of that are short lived.
