Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it, HME!

It seems as if many of us (me included) haven't had a chance to finish the book - should we perhaps think about taking an extra month to catch up and plan on discussing it at the May meeting, and just have this month's meetup be more (well, even more than usual) of a social thing?

I'll PM those on the list above in a few minutes with more details - thanks to persephone for reminding me. ;D

Right.  When we decided to cancel the April 4th meeting, I made noises at some of you about rescheduling for Saturday 18th April - in other words, day after tomorrow.  Is this something we're still interested in at all, or are we pretty much just thinking about waiting for the meeting in May instead?  And speaking of the meeting in May, who's in for it?  And for which date?  I'm definitely out for 2nd May due to travel plans, but could make 9th May as long as it's 3pm or later (as I have to work until 12:30pm).

Answers on a postcard, please! ;D

Making it over this Sat April 18th will be a stretch for me - I've had so much going on lately with my driving lessons & everything else!  This is our weekend to get some stuff done at home.  :-\\\\

I'll be traveling on May 9th, but I think the group should meet in May whenever is convenient for the most people.  :)

Book-wise - I think that Taste should still be discussed somewhere along the way, even if it's another month.  Cinbin has made the book selection of She's Come Undone to be slotted in there somewhere, and then there's poem suggestion as well.  And Revolutionary Road (HME) for later on.

No can do tomorrow (mi dispiace) and May is going to be drama-rific.  I haven't gotten much response for the June poems in the garden idea - should I post another thread about it separately?

What's this about?  Sounds intriguing!  Yes, maybe make another thread about it, because while I am in Yorkshire (down the street from Mrs. R!) I don't always look at the book club threads 'cause I'm not participating in it right now.  This poetry thing sounds interesting, though....

WOW, I've been slack, sorry. :(  I had been planning to make the book club meeting tomorrow, but I found out just today that a friend of mine needs some help tomorrow (she's a bit too frail to be moving heavy things --I refrain from saying old, because she's one of the "youngest" souls I know!) so I've volunteered to help her out.  I'm sorry I can't make it, if it still happens tomorrow, but I'm sure y'all understand, and would do the same.

If the meeting changes to May 2nd or 9th, I won't be able to make it either, as I'll be in the US until May 11th.  (Receiving my B.A. in English Lit. via my US college's graduation ceremony on the 9th, so it'd be an apt day for a book club meeting, really!)  If it happens one of those days, though, I hope it's a great meeting, and great weather for it! :)

I'll keep checking back to see what plans arise with the book club and tomorrow's/future meetings; I'm really keen on a lot of the ideas that came up at the Feb?March? meeting in Leeds regarding future reading projects:  She's Come Undone, the poetry idea, etc., so I look forward to those.

I'll catch y'all again soon, I hope!  Take care!! :)

p.s.  Forgive me, I apologize for being bad with names, and not being caught up on the message board, but how did the "grandmother tour bus extravaganza through Ireland" go?  I remember your face, and I've been thinking about you with a little bit of humor, and a little bit of dread. ;)

I think it's a great idea, but yes - I'd do a separate/new thread for it, dedicated to the June meeting.  :)

How about a new/separate thread for May - with a poll, to see who can come May 2nd vs May 9th?  And should we switch discussion of Taste: The Story of Britain Through Its Cooking to May?

With that in May, the poems in June, then perhaps She's Come Undone could be July?  (Incidentally, the first Saturday in July is July 4th!  Any thoughts?)

Another thought...would it be any easier for everyone to keep the plot if we sort of set Harrogate/Milans as the group's default meeting spot?  I'm all for going to Meg's still if she'll have us, and for the York/Harlow Carr idea for June.

By default meeting spot, I just mean we could just assume we're meeting there unless someone else says 'Hey let's go here instead this month!'  Maybe that would take pressure off people having to find 'the perfect spot' here, there or wherever - unless they especially want to host at their town/home/etc.  I don't mind moving it around at all, but just wondered if people would prefer a generally set place instead?  Just ruminating.

I think this is a great idea, actually.  I wouldn't mind having folks up for a BBQ/meeting this summer (although the fact that there are five Saturdays in May is going to throw my work schedule back to working on 1st and 3rd Saturdays, including July 4th - ugh! - until October) but I think Harrogate is a good default meeting place given the makeup of our regular group and where we're all located.

Will post a new thread with a poll for May in a moment. :)
