Quarantine Reading List

Hey everyone,

Reading anything good during lockdown? Sadly I am away from home, and my next five books are waiting on my shelf.

I've been reading a CS Lewis biography instead. Also working on "The Fury and The Sound" by William Faulkner, which has been dizzying so far.

How about you? Any recommendations?

I've been reading a CS Lewis biography instead. Also working on "The Fury and The Sound" by William Faulkner, which has been dizzying so far.

How about you? Any recommendations?

In all my years I have never seen anybody reverse the title of The Sound and The Fury before.  I actually Googled it to see if there was another work that played on the title.  I must say, dizzying, indeed!   

For our local book club I'm reading Lady in Waiting by Anne Glenconner. So far really enjoying it!

I read an amazingly captivating but heavily depressing story about the tsunami in Japan and ehat happened to students at an elementary school. It's called Ghosts of the Tsunami  by Richard Lloyd Parry. I did read PRE-COVID though so might be too depressing for some at the moment. Was incredibly well written though and tough to put down.

  That sounds like tough going, especially at the moment.

It is very tough going but it was a truly amazing and well written book and reading how some of these people continued to carry on, especially after losing loved ones, with as much strength as they did makes me remember just how easy my life is. They are honestly inspiring.

I'm reading a John Grisham book called "The Guardians" about a lawyer who helps free death people wrongly convicted from death row.  And then becomes involved in some giant plot.  Don't know why I love Grisham books so much, they are very samey.  I always wanted to be a lawyer and love hearing about why I made a good choice to skip it. 

Here's on I just finished, about what modern companies can learn from the Grateful Dead's marketing.  They really were cutting edge in a lot of things.  @phatbeetle this one is yours for free if you want it. 

Not a GD fan really (don't dislike, just not aomething i listen to), but i do find marketing interesting and this overall topic, so might need to add it to be "to read" list.

I'm not the biggest Dead fan either but I certainly did have a good time when I saw them live.

is that...succesful british irony? no? just my foot in mouth disease? whoops....
