US Uniting American Families Act
« on: April 01, 2009, 09:18:55 AM »
I don't pop over to this section of the board often, but I wanted to bring to everyone's attention the Uniting American Families Act H.R. 1024 and S. 242 which will eliminate disrimination in US Government Immmigration policy allowing couples and families, such as my own to have the possibility to immigrate to the US.  My partner has been excluded from the US because they thought he was looking for work and we have failed to be able to ensure that he would not be refused entry into the US.  This would give us a secure and fair way to consider moving to the US as a family, with in these uncertain economic times, all families need as many options as possible.

I intend to write my congress people where I vote in the States.
WARNING My thoughts and comments are entirely my own.  Especially when it comes to immigration and tax advice, I am not a professional.  My advice is to seek out professional advice.  Your mileage may vary!

Oh excellent.  Its about time this stuff needs to be sorted out. Its just not fair for so many people.

How does this relate to state laws though?  I think its one thing if you go to Massachuetts (yay home state!) or Vermont, but there would be huge issues if you went to say Texas or Arkansas...

If the US immigration process would then let people not be discriminated- then hopefully at least it pushes states in the right direction and they have to do something about it...
