Can I study?
« on: April 27, 2009, 04:50:36 PM »
Just got some very exciting news from my boss, company may want to pay for me to get specialist training, as we're losing a head and rather than recruit and so forth (after we just had 40 people made redunant, hiring is at a nil) - so they want me to go for another Master's Degree in this specialist type of engineering (further from my existing master's degree) . Fine by me, that would be amazing!

So- question, I'm on a WP, can I study? I know all the spouses can and things- but does this matter for me?  I know I have another year and a half to go before I qualify for UK resident rates (3 years is it?), but can I do it legally?  What about doing it online from a US institution (does that then make me an international student??)  Also, I guess it makes me more qualified than the roll I'm in now, so something to think about. Though I guess that really does not matter, when I'm married in a year and a half, I could switch to a spousal visa, rather than a WP.

No problems, as long as it is part time and you are still employed as per the terms of the work permit.
