Just a note on how to measure flour correctly for baking.  You should always use another spoon or scoop to scoop the flour into your measuring cup.  Then level it off with the flat side of a knife.  Resist the urge to tap it or anything as this is what cuases you to get too much flour in recipes and can spell doom for your bread or make your cookies hockey pucks.

 ;D

I always just used to use the cup itself to scoop and to be honest most recipes came out okay, but my bread attempts always flopped until I learned the science of yeast and flour measuring.

Also mom and I figured out something neat with bread makers.  If when it is kneading the second time, you take it out and knead it a few moments yourself you get a really much nicer crumb and loaf shape.

If you have pans and things that you like by all means bring them-yes, you can find them here but who wants to trawl around trying to  replace ones that you already have.  And by all means bring your measuring cups and spoons.

I may have the wrong person in mind... is the original poster the woman who is coming over by boat, with unlimited baggage allowance?  If so, then YES... definitely bring it all with you!   ;D

Hi, Broxi!

That's me!  The movers left this afternoon with 53 boxes, 10 of them yarn.  (I'm going to push the fashion for knitted winter scarves.)  I'm trying to be ruthless when packing clothing so I can have more room to bring back all the stuff I bought in the UK.   :P  And the Marshmallow Fluff!
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.

Ikea, Wilko, and a million other places sell glass bakeware for cheap, in all sorts of sizes.   pack your bags and boxes with more important things, and get new stuff when you get here.  plus, it'd be a mess if they broke in transit.  :-\\\\

Yes, they can be bought here, but I can't count the number of times the cheap stuff breaks in use. I've had roast chickens in 'oven proof' pans (cheap ones) that weren't, in reality, oven proof. So Chris, if you're an avid cook, bring them, if not, just get stuff here.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
