CHEAP Virgin Atlantic DC - London Flights

I just got an email from Virgin that travel between May 1 and May 24 from Washington, DC to London "starts at" $175.  I went through and did a mock flight, and I found RT as low as $450 total! 

Apparently, it's Virgin's birthday, so all their fare's are low.

Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone planning on going to the UK in May.  I'd LOVE to take advange of this sale if I could!

aww nuts. My mom just booked this exact route with Virgin last week, but she's flying out the 28th of May. But to be fair, with all the taxes and whatnot, it was  $600-something, so the savings aren't that great anyway.

Loading factors on transatlantic flights are waay down this year due to the recession. I just flew back to the US and plane couldn't have been more than a third full. No wonder there are so many fare bargains around.

I flew back to the US the week before Easter and it was empty on the plane.  It's crazy!  BUT, at least the lower fares benefit us!

The fares are low throughout the rest of the year, too.  A friend of mine just booked a ticket for right around $500 on Virgin - from Orlando, not a cheap destination! - for The Hub 3 in October.

I just have a real problem justifying going to The Hub. I was around for both 1 & 2, but chose not to go...I just look at the £78 for the ticket in and think no freaking way.  I mean, I love TW as much as most of the other fans, but I just can't justify the price of the convention!
