quarantine kennel?
« on: May 11, 2009, 01:00:29 AM »
Hello everybody,

Have just learned my partner and I may be relocating to London due to a fantastic job offer he's received.  We've had the Titre Test done and everything else is in order, but they may want him -- or I should say us -- to relocate before the 6 month wait period is over.  So, the possibility of having to quarantine the pups -- an impossibly energetic and healthy 11 year old dachshund and a shy 3 year old Norwich Terrier -- is fairly strong.

We've found several via the Internet and will visit them when we're over next month --  Learcroft Boarding Kennel, Bracken Lodge and White Rocks Farm in Kent, Tall Pines Boarding and Buckholt Kennels in East Sussex, St Andrews Farm in Sussex, Dover & Folkestone Kennels in Kent among them.  Any thoughts on these or others?

Fortunately, money isn't a concern and if they spend time in the quiet of the countryside -- at least a countryside which is fairly easy to reach from London --, that will probably be a good thing after years in the bustle of Manhattan.  :^)

Anything would be appreciated.

Duse

No insight, though I have heard some of the kennels are very good. You're visiting them in person, which would be my only recommendation. That, and patience -- as it's after one in the morning here  ;)

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the upcoming adventure!

Thank you for the reply.  Yeah, I know it's late there, but I figured people might see my question when they woke in the morning or checked out the site during their lunch break or something.  :^)

While all of those are certainly reachable from London, they are all a bit of a journey....there are places closer in, which may be more convenient to schlepp to regularly while your dogs are staying there, as usually one would want to visit weekly during their stay. Just my opinion, for what it's worth, (which some here think not much but then the feeling is mutual). Personally I wouldn't want to regularly have to drive or train from London to Dover if I could make a shorter journey to a closer facility. But that's just me.

All replies are appreciated, Midnight Blue.  Are there any quarantine kennels closer to London you can recommend?  Most of the ones I've found are in the areas I mentioned.  If I could find one closer, I'd certainly strongly consider it.
