Question about multiple, close visits
« on: July 31, 2009, 02:49:55 AM »
I'm a USC and I went to visit my fiance in the UK for about 5 weeks. I came back to the US on July 9th because I've had some things to do here that had deadlines and such. I'm thinking about going back to visit him early next week and stay about 7-10 days. I fly non-rev which is how I'm able to fly pretty often.

I just didn't know if this would raise questions from the immigration officer or not. I always bring documents with me tying me back to the US (this time I will have a new lease for an apartment which starts late August, and a full-time fall schedule for uni, along with the return trip itinerary).

I just wasn't sure if visits so close together made IOs suspicious or what some of your own experiences may be. Thanks.

I know others might beable to help with more up to date info. But in 2007, I traveled to the UK for 6 weeks, then again a month later for another 6 weeks, then back one week and returned again with a work visa (had to go to the NYC Cons Office to get it stamped) and was fine.

I was indeed visiting during those times, I didn't tell them I was going to get a work visa because honestly you never know if everything is going to go through in that length of time even though I was pretty sure that the last visit was going to be the last before the visa... if any of that makes sense.

Thanks for your response. Sounds okay to me then. As long as I have documents I should be fine, but I just wasn't sure how this was looked upon by the IOs. Thanks.

Its always good to just look up the amount of days you visit in a six month period, I know for us (my fiance and I who travel for longer periods of time) we try to keep it under 90 days in a six month period.

Yes, we're fine. Those 5 weeks are the only times we've seen each other since the year began, so we're way under 90 days.
