Just back from Turkey
« on: June 08, 2009, 10:12:08 PM »
Our first flight back into the UK together since we were married.
It was great at Manchester airport, I went to go into the EU citizens line and DW went into the "Other passports" line where there were about 2 other people! An official informed her that she needed to fill in a landing card, so she said that she was entering on a spousal visa and he said she still had to fill in the card but then asked where her husband was and when she said I was in the other line he told her to call me over.
When we saw the IO he was very friendly and helpful, he explained that to expedite the lines they allowed the British citizen to come through but also this allowed them to check we were travelling together. He also gave us some other good pointers.
I hope we have an equally friendly and helpful experience when we enter the US!

Sounds quick and painless.  I hope you enjoyed Turkey!  I've spent some time in Istanbul, but I'd LOVE to explore more of the country someday.

We had a great time thanks, we were in Oludeniz which is a holiday resort so lots of other nationalities there but predominantly Brits. We did meet a young couple from SF that were backpacking around Europe for a couple of months.

We'd also like to visit Istanbul at some point.
