applying on a visitor's visa
« on: July 31, 2009, 04:49:00 PM »
Can you apply for a family permit or something more permanent if you are an american in the UK on a visitor's visa and married to an EU national? If not do you have to do it from the US or can you do it from any other UK consulate or embassy? Thanks!!

You can apply on the EEA path as a visitor in the UK. Here's a recent thread on it (it is for Unmarried partners, however the core visitor application info is still relevant): http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=55327.0.

UKBA call centre is notorious for giving out wrong information. If she entered as a visitor her status will continue until her application is decided.
