Visitor Visa Confusion & Spousal Visa Documents
« on: July 28, 2009, 01:47:34 PM »
OK, even though I said I wouldn't, I'm going to try posting again because I have a couple of questions...

First, I am getting conflicting info on my visitor visa.  The IO told me it is 6 months out of 12 months of a rolling year.  Someone at the UK Border Agency said it is technically for six months in a row, but you must stay it all at once or not come back during that six months.  Finally, Worldbridge has emailed me back saying that it is six months from time of entry regardless of number of entries or 12 month period.  Help!

I am trying to make sure I don't overstay my visa as I am heading back to the States in Sept to get married and then return once my spousal app is approved.  Based on the IO's standards I would be at 184 days (one day over half a year) of a 12-month period if I keep my flight as is.  Will this be a problem or is it six months from the date of my last stamp (June 7).

Second, I am getting all my paperwork together for my spousal application and regarding the emails, phone records, etc.  How many do they want?  I 265 in my file currently and I'm guessing there are many they really don't want to see due to content :-)  I've gone through and picked about ten that seem to be most relevant regarding travel to see one another, etc.  Is that enough?  Also, don't know if I can get phone records since I no longer have service with that carrier.  Is this a problem if I don't include phone records?  Also, we generally Skyped, so there is no record.

Thanks for any help on clearing these two things up.

Do you actually have an Advanced Entry Clearence vignette or do you just have the stamp from the IO?

When did you last Enter the UK? And did they put the 6 month stamp in?

I just have the stamp from the IO.  I entered on June 7 and yes, they stamped my passport with the date and the little explanation above saying I have six months and no recourse to public funds, etc.

If you entered on June 7 2009 and have the 6 month stamp then you have been approved to stay until December 6 2009 totalling 6 months.  You're overthinking it. Just relax this is one thing not to stress over.

As far as your records, prune it down to a few photos and take a screen shot of your email inbox, plus any completed travel that you have done... 265 is overkill. For a spousal visa it's not as crucial to prove relationship since you'll have a marriage certificate and a letter from your husband approving of your visa application.

You can get Skype records.  There's a program you can download (for free) that will extract your records.  it's called "SkypeCallExporter". I don't have time to search out a link for you, but I know it was easy to google for.

hope that helps!
