No never been denied and no you aren't obsessing too much.
I emphasized that I know the rules and I have ties to the US. Mentioning that I have a dog in the US that I had to go home to I think helped.

Glad to hear that. So what were their reasons for messing around with the spousal visa?

They just say there is a red flag on my passport.

Ok, it's not long until he comes here...

Bank statements, he gets paid by check and the full amount doesn't even go into his account.  He cashes the check and keeps what he needs and puts the rest into his account.

Would pay stubs suffice?

He's coming here for a week, has a letter from work stating when he has to be back, a letter of invitation from me.  Pay stubs.  Hotel reservation for the night before he flies home.

Feels like overkill to me.  Just wanting to make sure I'm as fully prepared as possible.

No one can tell you for sure, but I think you are fine with what you have.
