Extending Marriage Visa (Fiance)
« on: May 18, 2009, 11:25:17 AM »
Hi, I am sure there must be something somewhere about this, but as usual, I am unable to find it....
Due to extenuating circumstances we are possibly going to be unable to marry within the 6 months granted on my visa. It is a very, very valid reason and could be documented by a judge and a solicitor. What do I need to do, or who do I need to contact? ANY help pointing me in the right direction would help. I don't want to leave it to the last minute, and then my visa expire and I get bounced or do something wrong, I would rather not risk it.
Thanks!

People trying to extend their fiance visa happens about 75 times a year, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  It's done with the FLR(O).

It is certainly possible.  You really need to show that there are extenuating circumstances, that you will marry within the next six months, and that you had no way of knowing that this situation would arise when you originally came to the UK.  The most common reason for extending is a delay to divorce proceedings, but I have also dealt with family bereavement issues.

Vicky,
Could I private message you? I have a few quick questions regarding extending my visa. It is for the first "most common" issue that you mentioned, and I have excellent documentation as to why it hasn't been able to happen at this point.
Thanks in advance,.

Could somebody please PM me with Vicky's website info?  I'm looking for related info and don't see a site listed in her profile...

She works for Medivisas:  http://www.medivisas.com/index.asp

You can click on "Contact Us" and you will generally get a response from either her or someone at the firm.  I actually got some advice from medivisas before knowing about this site.  They got back to me pretty quickly.

Someone else may know Vicky's direct e-mail address, but this worked pretty well for me.  I'm sure you could also call and ask to speak to her.

That makes me a bit sad...
