News flash: PBS report
« on: August 01, 2009, 12:37:35 PM »
News flash.   :D

The embargo on the PBS report was lifted at midnight this morning.  There's a thread with links in the Advocacy sub-board.

For those in the who contemplate entering the pipeline, or for the economic migrants out there, this report is absolute required reading.  Family migrants should take at least a skim because that's where the family formation programme is headed also.

Thank you for the info...sorry, I'm probably being really thick here but I'm not sure where you mean (the Advocacy board with more information), and I'd quite like to read it...would it be possible to have a link or pointed in the right direction?? Thanks!!

I think you have to have a certain number of posts (25 maybe?) before you can access the Advocacy board.

Oh right, thanks for that!!! It just caught my attention because I've got my appointment to switch from a Work Permit to Tier 1 (General) in 2 weeks and am a little worried.

I may be completely wrong but I thought you couldn't do Tier 1 applications in person?

Yikes, I hope not!!! They let me make the appointment- I called two different times and both people I spoke to said it was ok (I asked to be sure).  I think it says on the web-site you can too, if I am understanding it correctly??:

Garry, thanks for this info!

I remember a while back you had mentioned that there was debate going on about whether dependants of PBS visa holders should be allowed to work or not.  Do you know if there has been any more discussion of this?

Thanks again for keeping us informed!   :)

You're thinking of when applying OUTSIDE the UK...

Don't be...if they let you schedule the appointment, you have an appointment. I believe the previous poster was mistaken.

You are referring to the MAC consultation.  All's quiet on that front.  There's nothing more to do there until they lay their proposal before SSHD.

No I am not.  When I applied for my Tier 1 in January, in the UK, you couldn't do in person applications.

Clearly the rules have changed in 6 months.

Don't be.  The rules are different, which is news to me and why I asked the question.
