consideration

what a lot of people seem to be lacking more and more of.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

Call a house meeting and discuss the issue.  Notes are passive aggressive and not effective. If you, as a couple, approach people individually you're going to make them feel outnumbered and back them into a corner.  The only option is to sit everyone down as a group.

As a side note, I understand the situation as I myself was in it when I moved over initially.  At the end of the day, even if they do clean it will never be to your own standards, and as soon as possible it's just best to get your own place.

I'm not even a neat freak myself. I'm pretty untidy, always have been. But I really dislike cooking in a filthy kitchen and using a dirty bathroom. Maybe they just really think we won't mind, since they apparently don't. If that's the case, they must be completely oblivious to the fact that the kitchen is always mysteriously cleaner than since they last used it. It's also possible that they just don't give a damn (this is what my husband thinks). Ugh, this is horribly awkward. The cultural differences just add a whole new dimension of awkwardness.

When I was a student I dreaded flatmates. Leaving their tea bags cold and wet by the sink or worse in the sink. I remember when I was flat hunting in Fulham, right by my work I answered an ad that was a flatshare with 1 couple. I got there and it was that the 1 couple rented for 8! downstairs in their renter property. So it was 7 people living in a tight flat, living room was a bedroomish living space with dishes, clothes and .... I dont want to think about it
