hello everyone!
« on: July 22, 2004, 12:43:44 AM »
This is my first time logging in, and I have somewhere around a million questions to ask. I am planning on moving to England next summer, and I am lost on everything from what visas/papers/permits to get to whether its worth bringing my computer (because of its US plugs!) I guess I will start posting and reading now...but any replies to this with the very first few steps would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome! and we all know the million question phase well!! In order to answer some questions we need a bit more info...as to what visa/papers etc it depends on what is bringing you to England! As far as the computer...my personal belief is it isn't worth it...but I do believe a few have done it. I think it depends a lot on how attached you are! Ask away..and we will all do our best to help any way we can!

Welcome! You've found the right spot for information and support. What's bringing you to the UK?

If its a laptop I'd bring it in a heartbeat - a desktop would get left behind if it was me. :) And welcome! Read away, and then ask as freely! :D
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Hello! Im not completely sure because I brought my laptop over but check your users maual for your PC. I think most PCs are convertable. All you need is a UK cord which you can but easily when you get here. Good luck!

thanks for the welcome everyone  :) it helps to know you arent alone, especially for something like an overseas move! I am coming over for two reasons mainly...One, I am an international relations/poli sci degree, and I really want to work in europe and/or get a second degree over there to compliment my first. And secondly, my boyfriend is a native of Nottingham and lives there when he isnt over here with me. I am just waiting to graduate and then I'm off for England!
